I think it goes without saying, that the Internet can be one of the greatest tools in the hands of students, but it can also be one of the scariest. Remember the video of the Networked Student. Here's a humurous view at the other end of the spectrum (sorry for the ad).

Humor aside, I think we all know the dangers of the Internet.

So, in this assignment, you'll each find an article on your own that promotes two schools of thought:

1) Schools should tightly filter the Internet;
2) Schools should keep the Internet as open as possible.

What you'll do:
  • You'll click on the links below for each page (remember, you're finding an example of each point of view.)
  • Please find an article on the Internet so you can post the article here
  • Write a brief summary of your article and insert a link to the original document.
  • Please make sure you save your page. If you have any questions, please email me.

The idea is that while everyone is working individually, you'll as a group create an extensive "document" researching these two points of view. After posting your two articles and reading everyone else's articles, you'll answer the question about filters in Facebook.
